Yeah, Dave Doonan and Mitch Hackney finished my remodel that turned into a rebuild in Highland Hills. As always they were professional, trustworthy, perfectionist. I would never take on a project without them and on this project I postponed starting for 5 months waiting on Dave and Mitch’s schedule.

 

The project involved a complete remodel of a duplex that was in less than poor condition. I lived nearby in an apartment for 8 1/2 months then moved in during the last 2 months. The project kept growing as we uncovered hidden areas that required repairs. We ended up going back to the studs which was not the original plan. Dave & Mitch did the demo, took down walls, reframed, designed and put up I-beams that have become stunning architectural additions as well as their structural job. 2 bathrooms were gutted & reshaped, 1 bathtub was removed and they built it out to be a large luxury shower. They set new vanities. All flooring was removed & replaced. New closets were built with sturdy sliding door systems Dave researched, found and installed. They installed all of the new doors, rebuilt the pier & beam foundation where it had failed plus reframed failing original framing. Trimmed out all windows & doors. Mitch built and installed contemporary moulding and window trim (I know this sounds crazy, but they are works of art.) Dave & Mitch installed complex individual glass kitchen wall tile, they may not want to do that again.. They went behind the counter top installers fixing their sloppy work. They designed, built the base and installed 700 square feet of deck made of a green composite material. Mitch and Dave created a design to add interest & further customize this gorgeous front deck.

 

Dave & Mitch had to work and coordinate with other contractors - Plumbers, HVAC, electricians, guys who jack hammered out the huge, thick concrete front patio so Dave & Mitch could access and replace the pier & beam foundation along the front of the house. They can work with others though they have little patience for anyone whose work is less than perfect. They can also do all the work themselves, but I hired a few specialist contractors (probably a mistake).

 

It’s impossible for me to list all the work Dave & Mitch performed on this project. Bottom line if you have an opportunity to work with Dave & Mitch grab it. No one will give you the quality, honesty & thoughtfulness. This is my 3rd time to work with them, my close friend has also worked with them for years and admits any time she has had work done by others she has regretted it.
